Background

Alina is a legal scholar specialized both in intellectual property law and law, technology and society. She is passionate about understanding the legal and societal implications of integrating AI into new contexts, as well studying the tension between fostering AI development and adoption and protecting against its risks, such as threats to fundamental rights. She loves interdisciplinary research, and considers it paramount for responsible development and deployment of technology in the society..

Alina’s range covers research on accountable, sustainable and open R&D&I practices in AI and beyond; rights-based and by-design approaches to regulating algorithmic technology; legal guardrails against surveillance and studies on digital twins, smart cities and cerebral organoid intelligence.
